This Privacy Policy explains how Afrevo Technologies (Pty) Ltd, trading as WifiON, collects, uses, stores, shares and protects personal information.
We process personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 ("POPIA") and other applicable South African law.
1. Who We Are
WifiON is a connectivity services brand operated by Afrevo Technologies (Pty) Ltd.
Afrevo Technologies (Pty) Ltd is the responsible party for personal information processed through WifiON and determines why and how that personal information is processed.
References to "WifiON", "we", "us" and "our" in this Privacy Policy refer to Afrevo Technologies (Pty) Ltd trading as WifiON.
2. Personal Information We Collect
We aim to collect only personal information reasonably necessary to provide and manage our Services.
Depending on how you interact with WifiON, we may collect:
Contact information
- name;
- email address;
- telephone or WhatsApp number; and
- other contact information you voluntarily provide.
Location and installation information
- province;
- city or town;
- street or installation address;
- location information reasonably required to assess coverage or perform an installation; and
- information relating to the Premises or installation requirements.
Service and account information
- selected Package;
- application information;
- installation records;
- customer/account status;
- billing information;
- payment and invoice records;
- support requests;
- suspension and reactivation history; and
- communications relating to your Service.
Technical information
Where reasonably necessary to operate or support the Service, we may process technical information such as:
- router or equipment identifiers;
- network identifiers;
- connection status;
- technical diagnostics;
- fault information; and
- other technical information reasonably required to operate, secure or troubleshoot the Service.
Payment information
We process information necessary to bill you and record payments.
Where card payments are used, card information is processed by our authorised payment service provider.
WifiON does not collect or store your full payment card number.
Website information
When you use our website, certain technical information may automatically be collected, including information such as:
- IP address;
- browser or device information;
- pages visited;
- date and time of access; and
- cookies or similar technical information where applicable.
We do not collect or store customer ID numbers as part of the ordinary WifiON application or service process.
3. Why We Process Your Personal Information

- assess Service availability and coverage;
- process and evaluate applications;
- contact you regarding your application;
- arrange and perform installations;
- provide, maintain and support the Service;
- manage your customer account;
- bill you and process payments;
- manage recurring payments where authorised;
- send payment reminders;
- manage suspension and reactivation;
- diagnose technical faults;
- provide customer support;
- protect our systems, customers and network against abuse or security threats;
- maintain appropriate business and transaction records;
- comply with legal and regulatory obligations;
- establish, exercise or defend legal rights;
- prevent or investigate fraud or misuse; and
- improve our Services, operations and customer experience where lawful.
We process personal information only where there is a lawful justification for doing so under POPIA.
Depending on the circumstances, this may include processing necessary to enter into or perform our agreement with you, comply with a legal obligation, pursue legitimate interests permitted by law, or where you have provided consent.
4. Information Required to Provide the Service
Certain information is necessary for us to assess an application, install a Service, process payment or manage your account.
If you do not provide information reasonably required for these purposes, we may be unable to process your application or provide some or all of the Service.
Where information is optional, we will not treat it as mandatory unless there is a legitimate reason to require it.
5. Who We Share Personal Information With
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share personal information with trusted third parties where reasonably necessary to operate WifiON, including:
- payment processors and financial service providers;
- hosting and cloud service providers;
- communications providers;
- technical and network service providers;
- installation and support providers where applicable;
- website and information-technology service providers;
- professional advisers where reasonably necessary; and
- government authorities, regulators, law-enforcement bodies or other parties where disclosure is required or permitted by law.
Third-party service providers processing personal information on our behalf are expected to process it only for authorised purposes and to implement appropriate security and confidentiality safeguards.
Where appropriate, we enter into agreements or arrangements requiring operators handling personal information on our behalf to protect it in accordance with applicable law.
6. International and Cross-Border Processing
Some technology, cloud, communications, payment or other service providers used by WifiON may process or store information outside South Africa.
Where personal information is transferred outside the Republic of South Africa, we will take reasonable steps to ensure that the transfer is permitted under section 72 of POPIA and that appropriate safeguards apply.
These safeguards may include transferring information to jurisdictions with adequate data-protection protections, contractual protections with service providers, consent where appropriate, or another lawful basis recognised by POPIA.
7. How We Protect Personal Information
We implement reasonable technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information we process.
These measures may include:
- access controls;
- secure authentication;
- appropriate restriction of staff and service-provider access;
- secure hosting and infrastructure;
- protection of passwords, credentials and system secrets;
- reasonable system and software security measures;
- backups where appropriate; and
- procedures for responding to suspected security incidents.
Access to personal information is limited to persons who reasonably require it for legitimate business purposes.
No information system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. We therefore continually aim to maintain safeguards appropriate to the risks associated with our operations.

If we become aware of reasonable grounds to believe that your personal information has been accessed or acquired by an unauthorised person, we will investigate and take appropriate steps.
Where required by POPIA, we will notify the Information Regulator and affected data subjects as soon as reasonably possible, subject to any lawful restrictions or directions from competent authorities.

- the duration of your customer relationship with us;

- other legitimate business or legal requirements.
When personal information is no longer reasonably required and we are not legally entitled or required to retain it, we will take reasonable steps to delete, destroy or de-identify it.
10. Your Rights Under POPIA
Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to:

- request access to your personal information;
- request correction or updating of inaccurate or incomplete information;
- request deletion or destruction of information where we are no longer lawfully entitled or required to retain it;
- object to certain processing;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
- object to certain forms of direct marketing; and
- lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator.
We may need to verify your identity before giving access to or making changes to personal information in order to protect your information from unauthorised access.
11. Service Communications
We may use the contact details you provide to send communications reasonably necessary to manage your WifiON relationship, including:
- application updates;
- installation scheduling;
- account notices;
- invoices and payment reminders;
- outage and maintenance information;
- security notifications;
- support communications; and
- changes materially affecting your Service.
These communications are operational in nature and are separate from direct marketing.
12. Direct Marketing
Where we send electronic direct marketing, we will do so in accordance with applicable South African law.
Where consent is required, we will seek appropriate consent before sending marketing communications.
Where permitted by law to market relevant WifiON products or services to an existing customer, we will provide a reasonable and accessible way to opt out of future marketing communications.
You may withdraw marketing consent or opt out of marketing communications at any time.
Opting out of marketing does not prevent us from sending communications reasonably necessary to provide or administer your existing Service.
13. Cookies and Website Technologies
Our website may use cookies and similar technologies necessary for website functionality, security and performance.
We may also use analytics or similar technologies to understand how visitors use our website and improve its performance.

18. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our Services, systems, service providers, business operations or legal obligations.

The effective date and version number will be updated when material revisions are made.
Where a change materially affects how we process existing customer information, we will provide reasonable notice where required or appropriate.
